Melissa Martin, former principal of Francone Elementary School and now assistant superintendent for elementary curriculum and instruction, was named CFISD’s 2024-2025 Elementary Principal of the Year.
Feb. 26, 2025—Melissa Martin and Dr. Plas Williams Jr. were selected as the CFISD Elementary and Secondary 2024-2025 Principal of the Year, respectively, and will represent CFISD at the Region 4 Principal of the Year awards ceremony on April 1 at the McKinney Conference Center.
Martin, who recently transitioned from principal of Francone Elementary School to assistant superintendent for elementary curriculum and instruction, is in her 20th year of education, all served in CFISD. Martin has worked in a variety of roles including classroom teacher, assistant director of community programs, assistant principal and principal.
“It is an honor to be recognized as the Elementary Principal of the Year for CFISD,” Martin said. “I have been blessed to work alongside an amazing team at Francone as we serve the students and families in our community. I am truly grateful for the support of colleagues and mentors along the way!”
Dr. Plas Williams Jr., principal of Truitt Middle School, was named CFISD’s 2024-2025 Secondary Principal of the Year.
Dr. Williams is currently in his 25th year of education and was named principal of Truitt Middle School in 2022. He began his career as a classroom teacher and director of instruction in Houston ISD before moving to CFISD as a teacher at Campbell Middle School in 2009, where he also served as an assistant principal and director of instruction. Dr. Williams was named the director of instruction at Cypress Springs High School in 2018 and then served as the associate principal at Cypress Springs until being named principal of Truitt.
“I am honored and humbled to be named the CFISD Secondary Principal of the Year,” Dr. Williams said. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our students, teachers and staff who inspire me every day. Together we create a school community where all learners can thrive.”
